Harter House

(Independent Living)

Harter House provides a secure supportive environment including two meals per day, 24-hour emergency call system, regular and emergency maintenance, individual climate control, walk in shower with grab bars, office services, physical assessments, and regularly scheduled transportation and fun activities. Medicine reminder service is available. Assistance is provided in arranging for housekeeping services.

Vermillion Place

(Assisted Living)

Vermillion Place provides a secure living environment and assistance for residents who desire or require assistance with some of their activities of daily living, but do not require skilled medical care. Services include 3 meals per day, housekeeping, 24-hour personal emergency call system, 24-hour grounds security, oversight management, activities, physical assessments, transportation, and routine assistance with activities of daily living.

Mission, Philosophy, History

United Faith Housing is a ministry devoted to the housing needs of seniors in our community. We believe a community’s greatest resource is its senior residents, those we call grandmother, grandfather, mentor and friend. It is they who built the community we now enjoy, taught us who we are and blessed us with their leadership and wisdom. It is they who share their experiences and help us to handle bumps in the road. Most importantly, they show us how to embrace the love and joy that faith brings.

The Incredible Staff of United Faith Housing is devoted to compassionately ministering to this special community by offering them a home rooted in love for others rather than just a living space. Faith surrounded by love, our guiding principle, has led us to create an atmosphere that is both unique in quality and way of life. The threads of faith and love are evident throughout each of our homes and are examples of our mission to show love to others.

Our Seniors deserve the best in housing and services, and at United Faith Housing providing quality care at an affordable price is our highest mission.

During the summer of 1972, thirteen churches in the Anderson area formed a not-for-profit corporation for the purpose of meeting some of the unmet housing needs of elderly citizens. The purpose of the corporation was “…to provide persons over 62 with housing facilities and services specially designed to meet their spiritual, social, physical, and psychological needs and to promote their health, security, happiness, and usefulness in longer living.”

To further these purposes, United Faith Housing Corporation joined with the Harter Memorial Trust Committee in accomplishing completion of the Isabel Harter House on March 7, 1977.

The Isabel Society was formed in 1979. Its purpose is to actively perpetuate the Harter House through public awareness and fundraising with such activities as the Box Luncheon and individual memberships in the Society.

Vermillion Place was opened in 1999 whereby there would be the opportunity for UFHC to add services for persons who can no longer handle the independence required at Harter House, but who don’t need a nursing facility. This “Post Independent” living arrangement would be designed as “Assisted Living." Medication administration, assistance with activities of daily living, and other support services are now available with UFHC.
